Interlectual property law training conference on copyright and related rights
|
Between 08-11 of June 2010, to act as a proxy for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Copyright organized the training conference entitled Intellectual Property Rights on Copyright and Related Rights for the purpose to improve the knowledge about enforcement of government’s decrees and terms on this law.
Participants comprised many managers of all levels, such as representatives of Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Defense; Personnel Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Department of Performing Arts; Vietnamese Institute for Musicology; Departments of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of more than 40 provinces and cities; representatives of Literature and Arts Association of some provinces; Publishing Houses; radios and televisions.
The special subjects that representatives of Department of Copyright show to trainees comprise Overview of Vietnamese and International law on copyright and related rights; Law regulations on copyright and related rights; Sequence, registration procedure, and issue of certificate of the copyright and related rights; Protection enforcement of copyright and related rights in Vietnam. In addition to domestic laws, the related Conventions and Agreements were mentioned such as Berne Convention (became effective in Vietnam on October 26, 2004); Rome Convention (became effective in Vietnam on March 01, 2007); Geneva Convention (became effective in Vietnam on July 06, 2005); Trips Agreement (became effective in Vietnam on January 11, 2007); Brussels Convention (became effective in Vietnam on January 12, 2006); Agreement of the World Intellectual Property Organization (Vietnam has not participated yet).
The discussion took place quite ebulliently after each subject. Trainees were explained about the application of Law on copyrights and related rights according to specificities of each locality, organization, and the working they are in charge. Representatives of the Department of Copyright offered Certificate to trainees at the end of the training conference.
