To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in May 2012, British Council Vietnam with support from Diageo Vietnam invited the all-female UK acapella group Black Voices to Vietnam to perform for the first time. Black Voices is a unique and truly outstanding quality acapella band who has entertained Former President Nelson Mandela, The Late Pope and most of the members of the British Royal Family. Black Voices appeared first in City Opera House, Ho Chi Minh City on 20 May then at Hanoi Opera House on 21 May 2012.

Over their 24 years, Black Voices have steadily built up a reputation of delivering stunning performances through their soulful and inspirational harmonic blend. Their ever-growing repertoire includes spirituals, traditional African, Caribbean and English folk songs, jazz, Gospel, pop and reggae as well as a fusion of contemporary and classical styles.
The group has worked with a mix of composers and arrangers from the UK in extending the range and diversity of its musicality, and extensively with the maestro Mark Kibble of Take 6 over the last 5 years.

The Black Voices then delivered master classes for vocal students and young artists at Vietnam National Academy of Music on 22 May 2012.  The artists  share  their  own  experiences  and also enjoyed  Vietnamese  melodies  with Vietnamese  colleagues
