Conference “National characteristics and modernity in today Vietnamese literature and art”.

On the morning of August 04, the Central Literature and Arts Criticism council opened the national scientific conference entitled “National characteristics and modernity in today Vietnamese literature and art” in Hội An city (Quảng Nam). Mr. Tô Huy Rứa, a member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Department of Propaganda and Training participated and directed the conference.
The conference contributed to realize the Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW (dated June 16, 2008) given by the Politburo about “Continue building and developing the literature and art in new period”; and the conclusion of the Secretariat via the Announcement No. 84-TB/TW about the function and task of the council, plan and program in 2009. Forty-eight papers focused to clarify the dialectic relation between the national characteristics and modernity in the management direction, criticism and composition, literature and art propaganda at present. The papers also put forward the basic issues in order to contribute to the policy and structure renewal for the literature and art development in new situation.
The conference finished on August 05.
