Polish violinist Alicja Smietana will be performing at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music in Ha Noi tomorrow.

Accompanied by pianist Grzegorz Mania, she will play pieces by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms and Henryk Wieniawski.

Born in 1983 in Krakow, Smietana studied at the Krakow Academy of Music before moving to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

She later went on to work with such notable performers as Ana Chumachenco, Hagai Shaham and Pavel Vernikov.

She's has also performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall.

In 2010, she co-founded the Orchestra of Life. Last year, she performed in Ha Noi to mark European Day.

After tomorrow's performance, which kicks off at 8pm, Smietana will join the Ha Noi Philharmonic Orchestra to play pieces by Wieniawski and Dmitri Shostakovich, under the baton of Carlos Cuesta at Ha Noi Opera House on Tuesday.

Carlos performed with the Ha Noi Philharmonic Orchestra on the opening night of the Ha Noi millennial celebrations last year. This year he was presented with the National Award for Artistic Excellence in Argentina.

Established in 1997, the Ha Noi Philharmonic Orchestra was awarded the Japanese Royal Prize in 1998 and represented Viet Nam at the Asian Music Festival in Tokyo in 1999.
